Colour has considerable impact on human emotions. Stig Evans has been developing a project in the form of painted colour diaries. The diaries use the emotional power of colour and the therapeutic activity of painting as a means to explore the relationship between art and emotion, with the aim of providing an interesting and helpful means of self-expression.
Through a series of workshops painted colour diary panels are developed. The participant{s) are given a list of colours and emotions and discuss personal responses to each colour. Through making a colour wheel they are encouraged to develop their own personal palette. Over a period of time (weeks/months) they record their emotional responses by painting layers of paint onto a primed board, The ''finished'' board is then viewed in cross section under a microscope and photographed revealing a colour diary
